Foundation.

By late 2012, Aaltoes and Startup Sauna had emerged into a large and prospering community of university affiliates, serial entrepreneurs, local angel investors, international venture capitalists and startups from all around the region.

However, as the operation had grown from a small student organisation into a series of consecutive operations, it was decided that it required a more longer-term entity to support its 20-year mission of building a functioning startup ecosystem in the region.

As a result, the Startup Sauna foundation was founded in September 2012 with a wide national support. It was put up by fifty-seven individual serial entrepreneurs and investors from the community. The longer-term operations of the community have been financed and coordinated by the foundation ever since.

The foundation focuses on developing the core Startup Sauna activities, namely the program, internship, conference and the co-working space, while providing a more national and international framework for coordinating these operations.

In addition to the Startup Sauna operations themselves, the foundation also provides small seed funding to non-profit entities that help boost the startup ecosystem in the region. For more information, please contact Miki.
